Eternal Echoes: Unraveling the Complexities of Human Memory-February 2024

Reflecting on the nature of memories unveils a rich tapestry of cognitive processes intertwined with our emotional landscape. From a scientific standpoint, memories are not static entities but dynamic constructs formed and consolidated through complex neural mechanisms. The impermanence of memories, a common experience for many, is rooted in the dynamic nature of memory consolidation and retrieval. Neuroscience research suggests that memories undergo constant reorganization and updating, making them susceptible to distortion over time. This understanding sheds light on the wish for pleasant memories to linger while seeking to erase painful ones, as emotional valence plays a crucial role in memory consolidation and retrieval processes.

The human need for continuity and significance is mirrored in the desire for memories to be immortalized and to transcend the limitations of earthly existence. The complex network of brain areas involved in memory formation, including the hippocampus, amygdala, and prefrontal cortex, is revealed by neuroscientific research. These areas coordinate memory encoding, consolidation, and retrieval, highlighting the critical role these areas play in defining an individual's identity and story. Moreover, research into the brain correlates of consciousness raises the prospect of a communal consciousness in question about how memories are preserved. Even if there is not much factual proof that there is an afterlife, thinking about how long memories last might provide insight into the lasting impact of the human experience.

In essence, delving into the complexities of memory illuminates the intricate interplay between cognition, emotion, and mortality. Scientific inquiry unveils the mechanisms underlying memory formation and preservation, offering insights into the longing for memories to endure beyond the confines of existence. As we navigate the labyrinth of memory, we are reminded of its pivotal role in shaping our identities and narratives, inviting reflection on the profound significance of human's thoughts consolidation of the human experience.

Advocating for Respect in the Workplace - July 2024

In today's work environment, respect is paramount. Unfortunately, pride and hierarchical dynamics often overshadow the importance of mutual respect among peers. As a neurodivergent individual, I am compelled to advocate for our community, striving for acceptance and recognition in the work environment.

Neurodivergent individuals are immensely smart, creative, productive, and inspiring when treated with respect. However, when we are not recognized for who we are, our potential is often overlooked. One common misconception is that neurodivergentes "start many projects and do not finish them." This statement is so pervasive that few take the time to understand the truth behind it. We do finish our projects, often exceeding expectations, but we do so in our own time. This deserves respect.

There are numerous stereotypes and jargons that could easily be dispelled with a simple search (google it, please, we beg you). Yet, many choose convenience over understanding, opting to vocalize misconceptions rather than educate themselves.

My hope is that society will evolve to embrace respect as a fundamental practice in every workplace, regardless of position. Only then will we begin to think collectively as a community, fostering an environment where everyone can thrive, and the world can become a better place.

The foundation of human soul - July 28th 2024

I was sketching a facility and began reflecting on the

importance of meticulously focusing on the foundations.

It's crucial to consider every detail; otherwise, whatever

you build on top will eventually crumble.

Are we doing this? Is this what society's model looks like?

I believe we all know the answer.

When I talk about foundations,

I refer to morals and principles that build a soul. Recently,

I encountered an interesting situation. During the

Olympics, many artists are invited to perform, and

Celine Dion was chosen for this event. For those who

don't know, she is one of the best singers in history and

has been struggling with Stiff Person Syndrome, which

causes severe spasms strong enough to break bones.

I came across a comment praising Celine's resilience in

overcoming her pain and suffering. As a big fan, I shared

this positive thought. However, unlike the commenter, I

started to ponder the foundations that build us as humans. We need to stop idolizing only the richest, like those on Forbes' lists, as role models. This mentality may appeal to greed and other human desires, but is it truly about becoming better people? I don't think so. Otherwise, we would be celebrating single mothers who care for many children, people who overcome hunger and poverty in a system that fails them.

Relativism should be considered in these cases. I'm not diminishing Celine’s struggles; she's my top two female singer, only behind Whitney Houston. If we consider living singers, she's the best! This isn't about dismissing her achievements but about recognizing resilience in anonymous people, including myself, who struggle in poor health systems and deal with severe and rare diseases.

In my comment, I mentioned that while Celine has the assistance she deserves due to her talent and hard work, we shouldn't forget those in worse situations who should also be recognized as warriors. Predictably, my comment faced backlash, with malicious and dubious responses. One practitioner disagreed, stating that even with a bad health system like SUS (Brazilian health system), she would succeed. This statement made me think some doctors believe they are omnipotent.

I shared my story with music and how a rare condition compromised my performance, resonating with others. As expected, the practitioner tried to diminish me by flaunting his university title. Do we need this foundation of arrogance? Switching superstars like Michael Jackson, "Where did we go wrong? Someone tell me why?".

I had two options: let him disarm my thoughtful contribution or react. Inspired by Celine's resilience, I chose to voice my thoughts. In the end, when he tried to knock me down again, I elegantly ended the conversation, leaving him with his miserable soul that has no good foundation.

What does a sketch have to do with all this? Like Celine is a star, it was just the start of a conversation. Learning to live with others' thoughts is essential when building a structure. Only then will it be a good place for a good soul, a place we can call home.
